DVM, PhD. Associate Professor of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases, team leader of the Laboratory of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases, member of the Coordinating Committee of CIISA and vice-president of the Scientific Council of FMV-UL. She has published 129 articles in peer-reviewed journals (83 international), 5 book chapters and 1 book. Supervised/co-supervised 10 PhD students and 66 MSc students, has been IR or Co-IR of 16 national research projects (of which 6 FCT projects) and local coordinator of 2 international projects. Reviewer for 21 peer-review journals and guest editor for one journal. Her main research interests are directed to parasitic diseases caused by Protozoa and Arthropoda, namely: Leishmaniosis treatment, diagnosis, host immune response and prophylaxis strategies; VBDs; Cryptosporidiosis/Giardiosis genetic characterization, prevalence and control; Public Health; Culicoides as vectors of viruses; Epidemiology; Theileriosis; Forensic entomology; Bee health.
