Rui J. B. Bessa is a Full Professor with tenure at the Department of Animal Production and Food Safety of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMV-ULisboa). Rui Bessa is an experienced researcher in Animal Production who began his scientific career at the National Institute of Agrarian and Veterinary Research, where he has participated in numerous research projects, mostly on ruminant nutrition and its impact on product quality. Since 2008 he has been at FMV-ULisboa, where he has conducted research in Animal Production at the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Animal Health, and in the associated laboratory AL4Animals, where he leads the thematic line Green Animal Production. Throughout this journey, he has created an extensive network of national and international collaborations and is internationally recognized as an expert in ruminal lipid metabolism and rumen methanogenesis. He has an H-index of 46 (Scopus) and has published more than 240 articles in scientific journals indexed in the WoS and Scopus databases.
